Money flow, explained visually

The split per nuvee sale stays consistent. The point is clarity, not mystery.

Creator share: 50%
Half of every unlock goes directly to the filmmaker.
Ambassador rewards: 15% total
Shared across up to 5 ambassadors, 3% each.
Platform and processing: 35%
Supports streaming, payments, operations, and platform upkeep.

This is the clarity most platforms hide.

Every unlock creates a visible path from viewer intent to artist revenue. The filmmaker receives 50%. Ambassador rewards total 15%, shared across up to five people. The remaining 35% keeps the infrastructure running so discovery, streaming, and payment processing can keep serving the work.

It is simple on purpose. The model respects the film, rewards the human recommendation layer, and gives viewers a cleaner understanding of where their money goes.

Back the films before they become Nuvees

Nukhu Fundraising adds a curated campaign layer inside the existing NuVee ecosystem. Approved projects can raise for a standalone film, a single episode, or a parent series milestone, then move from live campaign to funded project to released NuVee.

A cleaner path from audience interest to finished work.

Campaigns are not an open marketplace. Projects are reviewed before launch, goals are approved, perks are built from recommended categories, and public pages show progress, risk level, updates, and support tiers before backers pledge NuPoints.

1

Create or select a project

A film, episode, or parent series attaches to a NuVee or series record.

2

Build the campaign

Creators add story, goal, cast, crew, use of funds, and recommended tiers with approved perks.

3

Go through review

Admin checks the goal, tier ladder, premium perks, payout readiness, and media.

4

Fund, deliver, release

If funded, the page tracks delivery updates, tranche milestones, and the path to a released NuVee.

Festival and voting

nukhufest turns rolling submissions into sustained visibility, finalist momentum, festival week, and a clear winner moment.

How nukhufest works

Rolling submissions begin in January. Weekly drops fuel discovery, voting continues through the season, festival week lands in September, and reset + prepare carries the work into the next cycle.

The foundation pillar

The nukhu foundation is where grants, mentorship, training, and long term creative support become tangible programs.

Built to fund, guide, and grow the next wave of creators.

This side of the ecosystem turns community support into educational and fiscal opportunity. It gives emerging artists access to grants, mentorship, workshops, and development pathways that can move a project forward with real momentum.

Grants

Nuvee Starter Fund and the Development to Distribution Grant help projects move from proposal to production, and in the case of Best Nuvee, from recognition to the next film.

Workshops and training

Practical filmmaking education, technical demos, and career development help artists build stronger skills and a clearer path into the industry.

Mentorship

The foundation connects artists to experienced mentors for business and creative guidance, helping promising voices sharpen both craft and direction.

Fiscal and long term support

Beyond grants, the foundation strengthens the broader ecosystem through sustained program support, mission-driven development, and pathways that keep creators in motion.

The Nuvee Club

Reviews, resources, opportunities, and conversation that keep the culture alive between premieres and festivals.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about watching, paying, submitting, and how the nukhu ecosystem works.

What is nukhu?+
nukhu is a curated ecosystem for watching, funding, and supporting independent cinema through transparent economics, community participation, and audience-powered discovery.
What are nuvees and NuPoints?+
Nuvees are films and video releases on nukhu. NuPoints are credits you can buy or earn, then spend to unlock individual titles.
Where can I watch?+
Watch on nukhu.com on any device that can browse the web, including desktop, mobile, tablet, and virtual reality browsers. You can also download the Nukhu app on Roku, Android, Fire, Samsung, and LG OTT TV devices.
Is nukhu a for profit or non profit?+
nukhu.com is a for profit platform owned by Nukhu Media, LLC. It operates the streaming services and filmmaker and ambassador payouts for films distributed on nukhu.com. The nukhu foundation is a 501c3 not for profit based in New York City and facilitates grants, training, mentorship programs, and nukhufest.
How much does nukhu cost?+
You can watch what you want, whenever you want by paying a minimum of $0.10 for each nuvee or by watching a short Nuspot ad session for free viewing. No contracts, no subscription bundle, no extra hidden costs.
How can I cancel?+
nukhu is flexible. There are no contracts or cancellation fees. You can suspend your account in settings anytime.
What can I watch on nukhu?+
nukhu has curated a limited selection of nuvees since 2014. Watch short films, feature films, documentaries, music videos, episodic series, and more. Titles remain accessible for as long as the filmmaker keeps them publicly available. Some titles may later be archived if community interest is low.
How do I support filmmakers?+
Unlock films you care about, back approved campaigns, vote during the season, request screenings in your city, share what deserves attention, and support the foundation programs that expand funding, training, and mentorship.
How does campaign fundraising work?+
Approved projects can launch a campaign attached to a NuVee, episode, or series record. Backers support a clear goal, choose a tier or custom amount, follow updates, and see the page evolve from live campaign to funded project to released NuVee when the final work is approved. Campaign backing uses NuPoints escrow. If a campaign does not reach its goal, pledged NuPoints return to the backer’s Nukhu balance. Creators may relaunch unsuccessful campaigns with revised goals, updated materials, or a clearer plan, and previous backers may be invited to pledge again. For successfully funded campaigns, Nukhu retains a 10% platform fee to support payment processing, platform operations, campaign review, and administrative oversight. Creator payouts may be released in milestone-based tranches depending on the campaign’s payout plan and risk level.
How do campaign risk levels work?+
Risk levels are tied to payout structure. Higher risk campaigns may release more funds immediately after success. Lower risk campaigns release funds in multiple tranches after creator updates, milestone proof, and review gates.
Do filmmakers create their own perks from scratch?+
Nukhu gives creators recommended support tiers and predefined perk categories such as release access, updates, Q and A access, premiere invites, signed materials, and approved credit perks. Custom premium perks can still be proposed, but they are reviewed before going live.
What happens if a campaign does not reach its goal?+
Campaigns are all or nothing for launch. Backers pledge NuPoints into escrow. If a goal is missed, pledged NuPoints return to the member balance, and a relaunched campaign may notify previous backers with a new goal, revised plan, or updated materials so they can pledge again.
Are Nukhu fundraising campaigns tax deductible?+
Standard Nukhu fundraising campaigns on nukhu.com are not tax deductible. They are commercial film support campaigns that use NuPoints escrow. If a campaign does not reach its goal, pledged NuPoints return to the backer’s Nukhu account balance. Tax deductible support is handled separately through Nukhu Foundation fiscal sponsorship.
How much does the creator make per unlock?+
The creator share is 50% of each sale. Ambassador rewards total 15% and can be split across up to 5 ambassadors at 3% each. The remaining 35% supports platform and processing costs.
Can I request a Nuvee in theaters?+
Yes. Some Nuvee pages include a Request in Theatres option so viewers can signal interest in a local screening. If enough demand builds in a city or region, nukhu can organize a screening and notify interested viewers when tickets are available.
What can I see on a Nuvee page before I buy?+
A Nuvee page can include the trailer, synopsis, director statement, credits, cast, stills, official links, comments, tags, and other context that helps you understand the title before you unlock it.
Is nukhu for kids?+
Parental controls are available to offer kids family-friendly videos in their own space. Permissions can be set with a password to restrict the maturity rating of the content they can watch.
