Ntando

Narrative

The film tells an intertwined story of a character named Ntando who’s stuck in a cycle of poverty and circumstance. We follow Ntando when he’s a child and see how the environment, father’s behavior influences him. The film then follows him when he’s a young man and we see the effect that his community and lack of a responsible parent had on him as a child has influenced who he is in the present future

I wanted to tell a story that was inspired by what bothered me, But at the same time, I wanted to tell a real story that depicted a South African experience. The story shed light on how past experiences shape the future of an individual and how people more so in disadvantaged communities, who do not have the necessary aid, end up misunderstanding how to deal with their issues. By bringing this to light we hope to spark conversation and change amongst South Africans around this topic for the better.
