Born in the Milky Way

Breathe is a coming-of-age short film about anxiety, self-doubt, and the terrifyingly awkward journey of putting yourself out there.
As a Black queer woman and director, Breathe is both deeply personal and urgently universal. This film reflects the inner world so many of us hide—the silent fight to believe in our worth. I made Breathe for those who have ever felt unseen, unsure, or overwhelmed by the pressure to perform strength. The characters in this story, though fictional, carry the emotional truths of lived experience. My work consistently centers marginalized perspectives and blends cinematic poetry with social impact. With Breathe, I wanted to create something that could serve as a mirror—subtle but powerful—reminding viewers that their breath, their story, their survival, matters.
