Born in the Milky Way

Packing

Packing

Moments before Amy moves across the country, her best friend Jacob pulls a total dick move and tells her he's in love with her (what a piece of shit). Now they have to work through this garbage in the last minutes they have together.

Growing up, I had friends so close that we thought no physical distance could tear us apart. I made sincere, whispered promises to crushes that we would stay close no matter what. Again and again, as we fall in love with the people around us, we come to believe there is nothing more important or as long-lasting as our connections in the present. But we all grow up. And we learn that, more often than not, these relationships fade into happy memories. The harder truth, however, is that this transition isn't inevitable: we actively choose our own futures over the love in our pasts. This is the choice I wanted to capture on film. It's bittersweet. It's funny. It's human nature. When push comes to shove, most of us would (and probably have) left relationships behind to build our future.
