Nukhu also combines streaming with human curation, audience voting, theatrical requests, fundraising, filmmaker publicity, Ambassador referrals, and Nukhufest.

Nukhu wants support for filmmakers to be connected to real people making intentional choices rather than superficial or automated internet activity. Accounts also make features such as purchases, voting, Account Balances, mature content controls, Stacks, recommendations, comments, theatrical requests, following filmmakers, Ambassador referrals, transaction history, and personalized viewing activity possible.

How do I watch a Nuvee?

Purchasing a Nuvee gives you personal streaming access through Nukhu while the title remains available on the platform and your account remains in good standing. Availability can change if a filmmaker unlists a title, adjusts territorial rights, or Nukhu must restrict access for legal, technical, contractual, or rights related reasons.

Partner Balance Approved filmmakers, Studios, distributors, advertisers, campaign owners, and other qualifying Partners can have a Partner Balance. Eligible Partner revenue and earnings are credited to this balance. A person can have more than one balance type depending on how they participate on Nukhu.

What is the difference between my Account Balance, Ambassador Balance, and Partner Balance?

Your Account Balance is your spending balance. Your Ambassador Balance holds eligible earnings generated through Ambassador activity. Your Partner Balance holds eligible revenue and earnings generated through Partner activity. Partner and Ambassador Balances are earnings balances and can have eligible withdrawal options. The Account Balance cannot be withdrawn as cash. Once funds or eligible earnings are transferred into the Account Balance, they become available for eligible Nukhu purchases and activity.

Can I transfer my Partner or Ambassador earnings into my Account Balance?

Yes. Eligible funds from your Partner Balance or Ambassador Balance can be transferred into your Account Balance. Funds transferred into the Account Balance cannot later be withdrawn as cash.

Can I withdraw money from my Account Balance?

No. The Account Balance is a spending balance for activity within Nukhu and cannot be withdrawn to a bank account, payment card, PayPal account, or other external payment method. Can I get a refund?

Nukhu generally does not provide refunds. Sales of digital access, credits, submission services, advertising services, and other eligible platform purchases are final, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Nukhu makes payments and financial commitments to filmmakers and other Partners based on completed transactions. A member cannot watch or otherwise consume a digital product and then use a refund or payment dispute to obtain that product for free after the corresponding filmmaker or Partner has already earned revenue from the transaction. Some platform features have separate return rules. For example, funds committed to an eligible fundraising campaign may be returned to the member's Account Balance if the campaign does not successfully fund. These returns generally go back to the Account Balance rather than the member's original payment method. What happens if I dispute or charge back a Nukhu purchase?

If you believe a transaction is incorrect, duplicated, unauthorized, or otherwise requires review, contact hello@nukhu.com so Nukhu can investigate the issue with you. Abusing credit card refunds, payment disputes, or chargebacks to regain funds after accessing digital goods or services can result in account restrictions while Nukhu reconciles the account with its payment processors or financial institutions. Accounts with unresolved financial disputes may be suspended or banned until the financial balance is resolved. Fraudulent, repeated, or intentional chargeback abuse intended to obtain free access to films or services after filmmakers or other Partners have already been paid can result in permanent removal from Nukhu.

Why are digital purchases generally final?

Accepted Answer

When a member purchases access to a Nuvee or another digital service, Nukhu may immediately allocate revenue to the filmmaker, Ambassador network, Partner, payment processor, or other parties involved in that transaction. Digital access also cannot be returned in the same way as an unopened physical product after it has been used. For those reasons, purchases are generally final and members should contact hello@nukhu.com if they believe there is a legitimate billing issue.

How does money from a Nuvee sale get distributed?

The filmmaker receives 50% of the eligible Nuvee sale price. Eligible Ambassador relationships can receive a portion of the transaction according to Nukhu's current Ambassador revenue structure. Nukhu's remaining share supports services such as streaming, payment processing, curation, platform operations, marketing, customer support, and filmmaker programs.

Does the filmmaker still earn if I watch using NuPoints earned from NuSpots?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Filmmakers are compensated based on the price of their Nuvee regardless of whether the viewer funded the purchase by adding money directly or by using eligible credit earned through NuSpot activity. If you earn NuPoints by watching advertisements and then use that credit to purchase a film, the filmmaker still receives the applicable filmmaker share. The method you use to fund your purchase does not reduce the filmmaker's eligible compensation.

Can I submit a film to Nukhu?

Yes. Filmmakers, Studios, producers, distributors, and authorized rights holders can submit audiovisual work for consideration. Submission does not automatically guarantee acceptance. Nukhu is curated, and work is reviewed before it becomes a Nuvee.

What kinds of projects does Nukhu consider?

Nukhu considers story driven audiovisual work across different genres, formats, and durations. This can include short films, feature films, documentaries, music videos, episodic projects, experimental films, and other moving image work. A film does not have to qualify for the current Nukhufest cycle to be considered for general distribution on Nukhu.

How does Nukhu decide which films to accept?

Nukhu uses a human curation process centered around Concept, Aesthetics, and Relatability, known as the CAR framework. Concept considers the clarity, purpose, and strength of the idea. Aesthetics considers how effectively filmmaking choices such as writing, performance, cinematography, sound, editing, design, and composition serve the concept. Relatability considers whether the work communicates something recognizably human and whether its perspective can connect with an audience. Rights clearance and the submitter's authority to distribute the work are also considered before publication.

Does Nukhu accept films made with AI?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The use of AI does not automatically disqualify a film. Nukhu still evaluates the project according to its human storytelling, Concept, Aesthetics, Relatability, authorship, rights, and overall creative execution. AI should meaningfully serve the work rather than replace the human judgment at the center of the project. Projects substantially created with AI may be identified or categorized accordingly.

No. Standard Nuvee distribution is nonexclusive unless a separate written agreement specifically states otherwise. Filmmakers retain ownership of their films and can continue pursuing compatible theatrical, broadcast, digital, festival, educational, and distribution opportunities.

What does a "Nukhu premiere" mean?

A Nukhu premiere is the scheduled date that a film becomes available on Nukhu. It does not mean the film must be exclusive to Nukhu. It also does not require the film to have never screened in the United States or elsewhere before. A film can have previous festival screenings, theatrical exhibitions, or other distribution history and still be considered for Nukhu.

Yes, provided your other agreements allow it. Nukhu's standard distribution relationship is nonexclusive, so a filmmaker can generally distribute the same title through other compatible platforms. Nukhu tends to prioritize films that are not already widely available to watch for free because the platform is designed around intentional paid viewing and direct filmmaker support.

Can I participate if I already have a distributor?

Possibly. What matters is whether your existing agreement gives you or your distributor the right to add Nukhu as another platform. If your distributor controls exclusive digital rights in the relevant territory, you should obtain their approval before making the film available on Nukhu. Distributors and production companies can also work directly with Nukhu and manage multiple eligible titles through a Studio presence.

Yes. Standard distribution is nonexclusive and creators can generally unlist their Nuvees. If a film is actively participating in Nukhufest, it may need to remain available in required territories through the applicable festival participation period in order to maintain eligibility. After that requirement ends, the filmmaker can generally keep the film available, adjust territories, or unlist it.

Will putting my film on Nukhu affect its premiere status at another festival?

Nukhu cannot determine how another festival, broadcaster, distributor, or sales agent defines premiere status. A Nukhu release is an online exhibition. If another organization restricts previous online availability, you should review its rules before activating your film. Nukhu's country level geo restriction tools can help accommodate some release strategies, but filmmakers remain responsible for confirming outside premiere and distribution requirements.

Is a geo restricted Nuvee invisible to Google and other search engines?

Geo restrictions control where the film itself can be streamed. They should not be treated as a guarantee that public information associated with the Nuvee, such as its title, public page, synopsis, trailer, or metadata, will be invisible to search engines. Filmmakers with unusually strict publicity or indexing requirements should contact the Partner team before release.

Is the online exhibition continuous?

Yes. While a film is listed and available in an eligible territory, members in that territory can access it through Nukhu rather than only during one scheduled online screening. Filmmakers can later change territorial availability or unlist the film, subject to active festival participation or contractual requirements.

Does Nukhu pay filmmakers an upfront license fee or screening fee?

Standard Nukhu distribution does not include an upfront license fee, minimum guarantee, or festival screening fee. Instead, filmmakers set the price of their Nuvee, receive 50% of eligible sales, retain their rights under a nonexclusive arrangement, and receive platform, marketing, promotional, and distribution support. Separate production, acquisition, grant, sponsorship, or partnership agreements can have different terms when specifically negotiated.

Marketing activity can scale according to a film's performance, promotional materials, audience response, available resources, and the needs of the release. Marketing support does not guarantee a particular number of views or sales.

Submission fees, when applicable, can be paid from the member's Account Balance.

Yes. Accepted Partners can provide and update promotional and credit information associated with their Nuvee. This can include a custom trailer, cover image or poster, subtitles, stills, cast, crew, production company information, external links, filmmaker profiles, and other supporting material.
